About

My nose is constantly in a book. No, I even keep one in the car just in case I get stuck somewhere and need to read. I usually have a lot to say about a book once I’ve finished it. And as much as my husband loves hearing me talk about my books, this might find someone who appreciates my book thoughts a bit more than he does.

Mostly, I pick up books from the library or read through what has been sitting on my shelves at home. But in the last few years, I have been allowed to read some advanced copies of books in exchange for giving my honest thoughts and opinions on those books. When I write a review for these, I try to get them posted the same week that the book is being published, that is not always the case, but that is always the goal. So if I have a review posted either on the publication date for a specific book or within a week from the publication date, that book was gifted to me as an advanced copy.

Most of the advanced copies I receive come from Netgalley, a collaborative site for authors, publishers, librarians, and book reviewers. Sometimes, I receive an early copy straight from the publisher or the author themselves (and those typically create an extra happy dance in my house). I tell you this not only to be upfront about my reading but also that I am open to advanced copies of books, so if you are a writer searching for an early reader, feel free to reach out.

I am also an affiliate member with bookshop.org, meaning if you purchase any book I mention through the link in the post, I will receive a small commission from your purchase. Bookshop.org is an online bookstore that collectively helps small business bookstores. This site is fantastic and has done great work for the book community in the short time it has been running.

Some of my affiliate links will be through Amazon. I will primarily use a link from there if the book is not being sold on the Bookshop.org platform for some reason, but I may also link to Amazon because I know that many of us have transitioned to ebooks over physical books.
